The PURPLE LEAF 94AS is the brand’s long-running all-aluminum louvered pergola, and it has one of the larger owner review pools among louvered pergolas. The 12×14 size offers more room than standard 10×12 kits while keeping a simple pole-adjusted roof. This review covers its materials, roof, drainage, rating, and the practical demands of a 516 lb structure.
Our Verdict
The 94AS 12×14 is a solid all-aluminum option for buyers who want rust resistance and generous coverage without electronics. Its two independent roofs adjust from 0 to 90 degrees, rain drains through all four columns, and PURPLE LEAF rates it for 72 mph when secured with expansion screws on hard floors. The kit is heavy, needs a large hard surface, and the listing does not publish a snow load.

Design and Build Quality
PURPLE LEAF uses a powder-coated aluminum frame that it says resists scratching, peeling, corrosion, and rust. Aluminum is the main reason to choose this model over steel kits, since it will not rust if the coating gets scratched.
The 94.32 inch listed height gives good headroom, and the gray frame fits most modern exteriors.
Roof and Weather Protection
Two independent roofs adjust from 0 to 90 degrees with adjustable poles. This hand-operated design has no motor or crank gearbox to maintain. It lets you open one side for sun and keep the other closed for shade or rain.
Rainwater is diverted into all four columns and released at the ground through notches at the base. Make sure the outlets drain away from the house and walkways.
Stability and Anchoring
PURPLE LEAF rates the 94AS for winds up to 72 mph when it is fully secured with expansion screws on hardened floors. That condition is important: the rating assumes concrete or a similar hard surface, not loose pavers or soil.
No snow load rating is listed. In snowy areas, open the louvers or clear the roof rather than relying on it to carry a heavy load.
Space and Everyday Use
The 12×14 footprint covers about 168 sq ft (based on the nominal size), which is enough for a large dining table plus a separate seating group. PURPLE LEAF lists it for decks, gardens, backyards, parties, and commercial or residential barbecue use.
If you place a grill underneath, follow the grill manufacturer’s clearance requirements, keep the louvers open while cooking, and never use the space as an enclosed cooking area.
Assembly and Installation
PURPLE LEAF says the instructions have been standardized and simplified, with no special rivets, additional materials, or welding needed. Even so, a 516 lb kit is a multi-person job, particularly when lifting beams onto the posts.
Confirm the slab can accept expansion screws at each post location before delivery.
