How We Review

WikiGazebo evaluates gazebos and outdoor shelters using a consistent set of criteria so that ratings mean the same thing from one article to the next.

What we evaluate

Our WikiGazebo Score is based on the following criteria:

  • Build quality: frame material, hardware, and overall construction
  • Roof and weather protection: roof material and type, water runoff, and UV resistance
  • Stability: wind rating, anchoring options, and footprint under load
  • Features: curtains, mosquito netting/screens, gutters and drainage, and hardtop or grill-specific additions
  • Ease of assembly: hardware clarity, tools required, and typical setup time
  • Overall value: price relative to size, materials, and included features

Ratings within a given roundup or comparison are relative to that product category. A screened gazebo and a pop-up canopy are not evaluated against identical thresholds, because they serve different use cases.

What our reviews are based on

Our assessments draw on manufacturer specifications, product documentation, and aggregated verified customer feedback from retail listings. Where we have not physically assembled or used a product ourselves, we do not claim to have done so, and we rely on the sources above rather than presenting an evaluation as hands-on testing.

Product eligibility

Before a product is scored, it must meet basic eligibility for its category (for example, a listed covered area, defined frame and roof materials, and availability from a mainstream US retailer). Products that don’t meet these baseline requirements are excluded rather than scored low.

List length

We do not pad “best of” roundups to a fixed number of products. A given article may include anywhere from a handful to around ten products, depending on how many genuinely qualify; if very few products meet our bar for a category, we say so rather than filling the list with weak options.

Updates

Specifications and pricing change. We periodically revisit published reviews and comparisons to keep them current, and note when a page was last updated.
