Domi is the lighter, simpler build. The Domi 10×12 hardtop weighs about 235 lbs, includes curtains and netting, and states snow resistance of 22 lbs per square foot and wind resistance up to 50 mph; it has 4.5 stars from about 670 ratings. The PURPLE LEAF 10×12 Bronze is heavier at about 298 lbs with a wider aluminum frame and a 3,000 lb snow claim, and has 4.7 stars from about 1,450 ratings. Note that the two brands express snow differently: 22 lbs per square foot on a 120 square foot roof works out to about 2,640 lbs in total, close to PURPLE LEAF’s figure. At 12×12, the Domi 12×12 with gutters adds a built-in drainage system and a one-piece mesh between the double roofs. Its listing gives two wind figures, 40 mph in one place and “over 60 mph” when anchored properly in another, so ask Domi which applies to your setup.
Louvered pergolas
This is a material difference worth knowing. PURPLE LEAF’s 94AS louvered pergola is all aluminum, with two independent roofs adjusted by pole and a 72 mph rating when fully secured. Domi’s 10×12 louvered pergola is built “entirely from thick powder-coated galvanized steel,” uses a crank to rotate the louvers from 0 to 90 degrees, claims 72 mph wind resistance, and comes with a 5-year warranty. Retractable and lean-to options
Both sell retractable canopy pergolas. PURPLE LEAF’s 12×16 retractable pergola has about 1,490 ratings at 4.2 stars, and Domi’s 10×10 retractable pergola has about 330 at 4.1. For wall-mounted shelters, Domi has the deeper range, including a 12×16 lean-to gazebo with a sloped galvanized steel roof, hidden gutter, and two extra support poles for snow. A lean-to must be fastened to a sound wall exactly as the manual specifies.
